The New York Public Library

If you’ve never been to the New York Public Library, you’re missing out. The Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary this May.

My alma mater (Southern Methodist University, in Dallas) held an alumni event there in the Trustees Room. The room itself was phenomenal (no photos, sadly), but even more phenomenal was getting the chance to see the library starkly empty when I left for the evening. Normally, it’s rife with tourists snapping photos and security guards, so seeing the main foyer in its peaceful state was a real treat.
